Jackie King has been making up stories in her head since she was a child. Raised by her mother, Jackie learned by example to dream big and never give up. She gravitated toward mystery stories with a little romance in them because she has a thirst for answered questions, a keen interest in the way humans can excuse their behaviors, and the dichotomy of love. Love, after all, can lift you to the heights of heaven and just as quickly drop you into the utter despair of hell.
A member of Sisters in Crime, Jackie also participates in the Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc. (OWFI) and the Tulsa NightWriters, a writing group in Tulsa. She was recently given the Lifetime Achievement Award from that group.
Her first novel was published after she'd retired from an engineering firm where she was an accountant and supervisor. She enrolled in a community college writing class taught by Peggy Fielding (who became her mentor and friend), and knew she'd found her true calling.
Zeroing in on what she loves to do and how she loves to do it, she "downsized" a few years ago and moved from her four-bedroom house to a more manageable apartment. Her daily routine consists of writing, lunching with friends, enjoying the company of her family, and living her dream.
Just like her mother taught her!
